Hey there. Remember me? Yes? Good. I think you look familiar too. Though, I might seem a little bit different considering how burned I got this weekend. Up until yesterday my sunburn looked worse than it felt, now I'd say that the pain feeling vs. pain appearance is pretty equal. Excuse me for one quick second...ouch!
Okay, before I go any further, I'll make a quick mention of Albert's wake on friday. It wasn't so bad. I didn't end up alone after all, I was joined by a few of my classmates. We all gathered in circle before we went inside and then someone told us that it was an open casket.
Um, what the fuck? Open casket in general isn't a problem for me. More power to the open casket people. But uh, open casket on someone who shot himself in the fucking head? Anyone else see a problem with this? I went in and saw Albert's body and my eyes finally settled on his face. There was a small bump on his forehead where the bullet went through and it was all covered up with latex, bronzer and crappy lighting which really worked for him. He looked eerily peaceful and I hope wherever his soul is right now that he's happy. Or at least happier.
In any case, the band trip was Saturday morning until this morning. We went to Kings Dominion on Sunday and got to go on this standup roller coaster first thing. Sunday was the day I got burned. Well, no. That's a lie. I got burned all weekend and today too, though I asked for today since I wore tanning lotion and not sun block. It hurts to raise my arms above my head and it aches to walk considering how I've basically been on my feet for 15 hours consecutively. *sigh*
Highlights:
¤Our band played at the Old Post Office Pavilion, where Lusk insisted on arguing with me after I told him that I agreed with him. Someone take the pole out from his ass, it's been jammed up just a little too far.¤We went to Arlington National Cemetery to visit JFK's torch. As we then leave Robert Kennedy's grave, I look around to see that my mom was nowhere to be found. Lusk lost my mom in a cemetery. Christ. Kept right on walking cause we can't fucking be late for the damn Unknown Soldier thing, now can we? My God. Eric's mom and I went off in search of her and found her up in front. I have lost all respect for that fucker.¤Senior night was last night, 11pm, Lusk's room. He ordered pizza and we waited awkwardly for Eric to show. Once he does, we sit there on separate beds watching "Chips 99" with Eric Estrada and Ryan O'Neil (don't quote me on that).
Now, I wasn't exactly asking for a miracle or a re-enactment of the birth of Christ, but shitty pizza and "Chips"? Wait a minute. I looked forward for 5 years to become a senior for this?
The only redeeming quality of the night was that we spent 2 hours playing candle pin bowling at a local bowling alley and I kicked ass. Then the pain came back to my shoulders due to the sunburn but luckily I'd bought some good sunburn stuff at bath and body works. Still hasn't done anything for it.
On the whole, the band trip was very uneventful. No bloodshed, gore, tears, or tramping it up in the hotel. Nothing truly exciting happened and I feel good about that. Life's too short as it is :)
Okay. I feel completely wasted and so that means that a more interesting entry awaits you tomorrow. Thanks for coming back. Sign the guestbook.
It's been one LONG weekend and I'm glad I'm home.
