So lemme give y'all a rundown.Friday: packed up my room.
Saturday morning: packed up my room a little more.
Saturday afternoon: Picked up my room, loaded it into my dad's Toyota and then took off on the road for FRFF.
People were more shocked to see me than I thought they would be. I'm sure most of you know by now that my confidence hath been a little low lately and so to see a lot of people I hadn't expected to see or ever hang out with in general was a fitting end to my summer in the upper hudson valley.
So haaaaaaaaallllllllllooooooo to the following peeps:
NateBeccaChaya (my FRFF 2001 crutch buddy)Lisa (with her flapper hairdo:)Ellen (who seems to always have a birthday during FRFF)TrungBill!Josh! (Who, up until Saturday afternoon, I had NEVER met once in the four years since I became a fruhead)Shelly (who makes the best waffles and has the nicest SpongeBob Squarepants shorts)^Kat^ (who I'd last seen at Frucon 5)Andrea (who was fun to watch while she made Mellie stop crying)Lisa (AJ's wife, just to clarify)And lastly AJ, who gets all the credit for my being there at all. As I've told most of you, I had looked upon this past week as being the most stressed out I was going to be all summer. I'd looked at FRFF to be a treat I could give myself.
And it was. Somehow, I was able to tap into the person I was two years ago, not completely immersed in her but swimming around the edges and getting wet with the essence of my 18 year old self.
I'm not quite sure why it felt like I had been there longer than 24 hours. Once again, I cried on the hillside during Iowa but for the first time it wasn't a sadness or like I had lost anyone recently.
That was nice...
